CEO & Founder
Briona Day, born and raised in Toledo, OH received her cosmetology license in 2015 and immediately started her profession cutting white men's hair for two years. She became a self employed cosmetologist in 2017. It was the best day of her life. She always wanted to be a cosmetologist, along with a police officer, radiologist, and may more occupations. Growing up she realized she really just wanted more than one stream of income. A year in she realized she was in the beauty industry where she could create multiple streams of income understanding natural hair. She never imagined her hair stylist career lasting forever, only long enough to put her through school. May 8, 2021 she retired from working behind the chair and enrolled back into school entering her senior year of obtaining her Bachelor's in Business Administration.
In 2018 Briona battled learning feeder and stitch braids. Clients hair was too thick, parting was to hard, product was not working, and the style took to long to complete were all the common complaints. She was a licensed cosmetologist, but her clientele forced her to become a braider. Being the only source of income, she had no other option but to learn them. She faced every obstacle that came with thick curly hair being stitched and hair feed in; which resulted in her combining her cosmetology knowledge and braiding skills into creating the a process and technique that can be used on everyone. Not only did it solve the technique problem, it reduced the time frame on one client increasing her clientele. Once she was booked a month ahead with all new clients and old clients refused to go to anyone else because the lack of skill, she knew she needed to pass down the information but in the most effective way possible. Feeder and stitch braids saved her life because it allowed creation financial stability for her family. She was stable enough to become from behind the chair, create Her Academy of Beauty and educate Her Braid Community.
